As the Director of Certifications, Mark works on a wide range of projects at Sol, from architectural design to energy models to green certifications. His expertise in technical aspects of project delivery, including BIM and performance simulation, allows him to work seamlessly with Sol’s clients, and to find new ways to optimize Sol’s processes to deliver better results more efficiently. His Masters thesis focused on an innovative method for designing shading devices. In 2019 he published a paper based on this research entitled “Balancing Performance and Aesthetics: Data-Driven Design for Fixed Shading Devices.” Mark believes that architecture is as much for the community as it is for the client; and appreciates that Sol’s focus on sustainability has a positive impact on the environment and surrounding community. When not at Sol Mark enjoys playing strategy games, spending time with friends and family, and building things, from knickknacks to furniture.
