PROJECT.

FedEx Express Boise

A focus on efficiency

The developer sought a LEED partner who could deliver fast, efficient guidance to meet FedEx’s strict design criteria on a tight schedule without adding cost or time.

Problem

This new construction 120,000 square foot distribution center is located outside of Boise, Idaho. The developer needed a partner who could streamline the process of achieving LEED certification per the FedEx Standard Design Criteria — particularly given the project's tight schedule. The team needed quick feedback on the proposed design, and efficient engagement during construction to ensure the project met its targets without extending the timeline or adding significant costs.

Solution

Comprehensive Scope

Sol provided a comprehensive scope for the project, overseeing the LEED certification, energy modeling, and commercial commissioning from design through construction.

Target Long-term Value

From the outset, we targeted credits that would provide long-term value to the owner, including enhanced commissioning of the HVAC systems and envelope, low-maintenance native and adapted landscaping, and efficient plumbing fixtures.

Streamlined Approach

During construction, our coordinated commissioning and LEED documentation process streamlined submittal reviews and feedback on proposed changes. Together, this approach brought maximum value with a minimum of added time and cost.
