Myers-Heckman Residence Featured in Architect Magazine
The Myers-Heckman Residence, a LEED Platinum historic home and addition by Sol design + consulting, is featured in the September issue of Architect Magazine. The article includes an interview with Sol's founder and President, Sanyog Rathod, who was also the lead architect on the project.
"The design seeks to respect the historic architecture and allows contemporary intervention, while achieving near net-zero energy performance," Rathod says. The historic portions of the home were meticulously restored, including removing and refinishing historic trim, baseboards, and paneling; while new areas of the home were distinctly contemporary. The overall design and numerous details celebrates the juxtaposition between old and new, including a full-height curtainwall that separates the existing home from the addition, and a contemporary stair that exposes the rough-hewn stone foundation.
The home has previously won an International LEED Homes Award and a USGBC Ohio Leadership Award.
